Dr. Melissa Ward graduated from Colorado State University of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2016. She completed a one year internship at the Dumb Friends League, where she routinely performed high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter, as well as a variety of soft tissue surgeries. Prior to veterinary school she spent 12 years in the veterinary field in a variety of roles, including Certified Veterinary Technician, in the general practice and animal shelter setting. Dr. Ward maintains avid involvement in shelter medicine through relief and volunteer work. She is a member of AVMA, CVMA, and HSVMA and is also certified in veterinary medical acupuncture. Additionally, she has a background in veterinary hospice care, which allows her to help guide families through difficult end-of-life and quality of life discussions.

Dr. Ward's primary values in veterinary medicine revolve around providing quality patient and client care in a supportive, compassionate manner.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Ward enjoys spending time with her husband, Matthew, their two dogs, Eva and Izzy, and their 15-year-old cat, Frankie, as well as three snakes and a tortoise. She also enjoys painting, being outdoors, and recently developed an interest in paragliding.
