When your pet isn’t feeling well or is acting differently it can be a sign that something is wrong. At Tall Grass Animal Hospital in Aurora, we offer a wide range of diagnostic services to identify any illness or disease that may be present. Our facility has state of the art technology that equips us with the ability to diagnose and subsequently develop the best treatment plan for your pet.
Lab work is used for advanced diagnostics and to gain a better understanding of how your pet’s internal organs are functioning. Dr. Fordham will recommend necessary diagnostic lab work at your visit and explain the purpose of each test he is recommending.
At Tall Grass Animal Hospital, we utilize a digital x-ray technology that allows us to develop high quality images. Digital x-ray technology results in less exposure to harmful radiation for your pet, high quality and extremely detailed images. Dr. Fordham will share the results of your x-rays with you immediately and in situations where a second opinion of an expert veterinary radiologist is needed we will consult with a board certified radiologist who will review your pet’s images and provide feedback often within 24 hours.
In situations when x-rays, lab work, and a physical examination are not able to identify the cause of a potential problem your pet is experiencing, an ultrasound may be called for. High frequency sound waves are used with ultrasound allowing for images of soft tissues that are often hard to visualize with an x-ray. When ultrasound is needed and agreed upon, Dr. Fordham will bring in a board certified Radiologist, Dr. Linda Konde, to perform the ultrasound. We will get results immediately to help us with a diagnosis and develop the best treatment plan for your pet.
When your pet has a heart condition Dr. Fordham will often recommend an evaluation to be done by a board certified cardiologist. Dr. Carrie Ginieczki will come to Tall Grass Animal Hospital to evaluate your pets heart and perform the necessary diagnostics. This often includes an ultrasound of the heart so we can determine how the heart is functioning so we can develop a treatment plan.
