At Tall Grass Animal Hospital in Aurora, we understand how important healthy teeth and gums are to your pet’s health and longevity. Dental disease is a serious condition that can affect your pet’s entire body. We know that the bacteria that builds up on ours and your pet’s teeth affect their heart, liver, kidneys, and overall longevity. We also know that dental disease is painful! Pets will still eat of course but underlying pain will slowly change their overall activity level. Our hospital is fully equipped to perform everything from routine cleanings to advanced periodontal treatments and extractions. We utilize digital X-rays to provide clear pictures of possible dental disease that is below the gum line. This also helps us create the appropriate treatment plan that allows us save as many teeth as possible. If an X-ray needs further evaluation or an advanced treatment plan that may include a root canal, then we will reach out to our board certified dentist Dr. Larry Klima. Dr. Klima is a veterinary dentist that will come to our hospital to perform these advance procedures when indicated. All dental prophylaxes and procedures are always done under general anesthesia just like a surgery. During anesthesia your pet will be constantly monitored by a certified veterinary technician or Dr. Fordham as stated above. If a board certified anesthesiologist is indicated, then we can reach out to Dr. Kurt Grimm to help. Tall Grass Animal Hospital will have the tools to work with you to determine the best treatment plan for your pet’s dental health.
