Our surgery suite is fully equipped with state of the art technology, including the best anesthesia machines and monitoring devices, which enables Dr. Fordham and our staff to maintain your pet’s safety and comfort. Pain management is very important at Tall Grass Animal Hospital. We address your pet’s comfort throughout all surgical procedures from start to finish and continue to monitor and treat pain after the procedure throughout their recovery at home. If an advanced surgical treatment is recommended, then we will have access to Dr. Dave Matthiesen a board certified surgeon to come to our hospital to help perform the procedure when indicated.
Prior to your pet’s surgery, Dr. Fordham will take the time needed to explain the procedure to you in detail and assess your pet’s current health. He will recommend the necessary pre-anesthesia lab work and give you pre-surgical instructions. During the procedure, Dr. Fordham and our expert staff work together to monitor anesthesia as well as your pet’s comfort and wellbeing. When surgery is complete your pet will be transferred to a recovery area where he/she will be monitored until ready to return home. Dr. Fordham will contact you to let you know how surgery went and give you information on your pet’s recovery. Before you take your pet home, you will be given detailed instructions for how to care for your pet and manage your pet’s pain. After surgery, Dr. Fordham will take the time to reach out to you and check on your pets’ recovery and answer any questions you have.
